Church Family,

The last several weeks have been very difficult for the people of Haiti. The country has experienced protests, roadblocks, and a wide range of anti-government demonstrations. We received communication from our on the ground partner over the weekend specifically addressing the current unrest. Given the unrest and by recommendation of the US State Department all trips for the foreseeable future have been cancelled. We will remain in regular communication with myLIFEspeaks and monitor the situation through the US State Department. We are going to lean jointly on myLIFEspeaks and the US State Department for recommendations regarding reopening trips in and out of Haiti as a church.

How do we respond?

I want to challenge the way you respond to this news. When you look at a situation like the one in Haiti there is only one answer, the gospel. Government has shut down, hospitals have shut down, every-day life has shut down, but God is on his throne. For Haitians right now life is hard, but God is good. We may not be able to send a team, but we can get on our knees to pray. Over the next several weeks I challenge you to pray for the country of Haiti. Below you will see some very specific things you can pray for coming directly from myLIFEspeaks.

Prayer

  • Pray for the community of Neply we serve in.
  • Pray for the government.
  • Pray for Haiti to turn to the ONLY source of Hope: Jesus.
  • Pray that God's voice is heard and people turn to Him.
  • Pray for those myLIFEspeaks works with daily who are not able to receive the services they need due to travel within Haiti being limited.
Matt Chandler said it well, “there isn’t a violent soul on the planet that God might not save and transform for himself.”

May the events occurring today in Haiti open up the door for future gospel conversations with those far from God and may the Holy Spirit convict people of their need for Jesus through those conversations.
