Thank you for your patience as we have assessed the situations around the country as it relates to both Hurricane Harvey and Irma. We have and continue to seek out the direction of those impacted by the storm and those charged with leading relief efforts. Below is how we will move forward with our response.
Colossians 4:2 tells us that we are to “devote ourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it.” The situations people are facing in the aftermath of these two horrific storms are devastating. Some have lost their lives and many others have lost their homes. Lets make it a priority to lift up the countless individuals enduring the pain and devastation of these two horrific storms. May we as a church family dedicate ourselves to prayer even beyond the aftermath of these storms.
We continue to have dozens of text and phone calls from individuals and families looking to donate supplies. We have approached donation items cautiously because the perceived need doesn’t always match the specific need. We stand by the best donation being a cash donation to the North American Mission Board via the NAMB website. You can give both to Hurricane Harvey Relief and to Hurricane Irma Relief. As for specific items, our local Disaster Relief organization has a very well established list of items that will be in high demand in the coming days. Please contact Robert Post at email@example.com for more information about connecting with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board to obtain an items needs list.
SENDING A TEAM
We are sending a team! We have had more conversations related to getting feet on the ground than we have with any other aspect of our response. After consultation with churches on the ground in Houston, we have scheduled a trip for October 1-8. First of all, we only have twenty spots available for this particular trip. Therefore, you must sign up as soon as possible to reserve your spot. You can do so via The Glade Church Disaster Relief Trip Application. Please contact Robert Post if you have any specific questions during the application process. The cost of the trip will be 100 dollars and will cover your transportation, your lodging, and your food while in Houston. We are excited about the chance to serve alongside the local church in Houston as we seek to restore lives and bring a true sense of hope back to Houston after it took such a devastating hit. Will you go with us as we serve with compassion and offer real hope?
Lastly, we are currently in contact with some individuals and churches on the ground in Florida as well. As we did with Harvey, we will carefully walk through the sending process with Irma. As more information becomes available we will be in further communication with you.
